Its no more Direct-to-Globen In 2013 it will be Direct-to-SwedBank!

The brand new Arena in Solna called Swedbank Arena, is due to open on 27th October 2012. As well as being the main home
of Sweden's national football team- it has the capacity to take 65 0000 spectators. So Stv have confirmed due to this years increase in Melodifestivalen Final viewing figures in 2012. Next year will see this new massive arena - as certainly the new home of Melodifestivalen Final contest-
What fantastic news from Stv yet it's a little sad to see Globen be no longer a Melodifestivalen regular anymore!
And Direct to Swedbank- hmmm.. does not have the same ring to it- does it?

As we like a good chart-list- this is SverigeTopplistan Top 20 - where we find the chart has
half songs from Melodifestivalen 2012 in the Top 20- One artist missing is Charlotte Perrelli for some reason
with 'The Girl' she may pop up somewhere next week.
It's interesting to see Sean Banan's second-chance song- head and shoulders above any other
non- Globen finalist- However Sean does have a new album popular at this time. Loreen has three songs
on the chart that is her previous two singles from last year.

Italy and San Marino have new songs for Baku- What do we think?

It's not all over yet- all countries taking part in Eurovision have the next couple of weeks to arrange their final songs for the big competition in Eurovision Song Contest in May- In the past we have had a few last minute changes, coming mainly from Ukriane. Who back in mid-March 2010 ditched the song and artist selected for Oslo (Vasyl Lasarovich) and held last minute National Final- only to end up choosing a different song again from the final winner!
Over in Belarus a runner up artist and song was prefered with Litesound's 'We are all Heros' instead of the real winner in 2012 of Alyona Lanskaya with her song 'All of My Life' Certainly I think the right song was selected here in Belarus- at Eurovision 2012.
In Italy it was annoched that Nina Zilli would be the artist from San Remo Contest this year- Nina's San Remo winning tune 'Per Sempre' was the choice and a new bilingual version was due to be created for Eurovision.

Then suddenly last week it was annouched that Nina's record lable had a preference for Nina's latest release 'L'Amore e Femmina' certainly
this new tune has a boom-boom kinda Eurovision ring ring to it- so it seems to be less of a promoinal decision to change this song.
However Per Sempre' certainly would have done equally well in Baku we think- certainly Italy have got it right for the second year back in Eurovision.

Meanwhile San Marino really need to qualify at Eurovision 2012- as with their past 2 entries failed to make the final.
So no current changes in San Marino- however a strong artist called Valentina Monetta with a tune written by none other than Ralph Seigel- the songwriter who has wrote 19 past Eurovision entries for Germany Luxembourg & many more.
I was so excited by this schlager rumour and news- and La Papa Pingouin, la papa pingouin-' began ringing in my ears.
This sounded like a real qualifier already for San Marino to put them on the map- then I heard and saw the song
called- wait for it...

it is far from a Eurovision winner - and rather typical of some of the more modern Ralph Seigel tunes.
Some people like this social-media pop- I am not really sure as I do luv and respect Ralph's past glories.

Will this song really get past the EBU's rules- we think not-
I hate to bring up the subject of Sweden's Lotta Enberg's Melodifestivalen winner 'Fyra Bugg & Coca-Cola' was changed to 'Boogaloo'
for advertising reasons- in Eurovision 1987 -and most certainly facebook is the Coca Cola brand of the modern times.

Does this mean we need let yet another song change for Baku 2012? I think so ---otherwize what next year
(take me to your) 'ikea-heaven''?

-Valentina models her new Baku-chair in 12 pointa-grey

Stop-press-- the EBU have annoched 19/3/2012 that 'Facebook uh oh uh' lyrics are in breach of Eurovision Song Contest rule
book The rule 1.2.2. this was the same rule enforced for Georgia's 'I don't wanna Put In' in 2009 for the political message!

Loreen speaks right after her Globen win at Melodifestivalen 2012

After Loreen's Euphoria took the prize she had a short chat with ESCtoday- She's tell us how she has never quiet experienced a Euphoria-
hold on in there Loreen-- it could be on it's way!

Watch - Loreen's Glory Moment!! and presentation from Eric Saade

It's worth remembering Loreen won the first semi-final 1 contest in Vaxjo- and no act has ever
found winning success from being the first qualifier since 2002 when Melodifestivalen began
having semi-final rounds.

--check out here a great celebrationary hug from Thomas G:Son & Peter Bostrom

Before Melodifestivalen Peter commented on his site-
(on the subject of being songwriter of 'Amazing' & 'Euphoria' in 2012)

"I have been going through every single scenario in my head over and over again, and
no matter what the outcome will be, someone or both of my artists will get hurt.

They are fantastic human beings and I wish them only the best. They deserve the
best. They deserve to win. No matter how it ends, they are both winners in my eyes." Peter Bostrom

very true words.

Peter Boström- The Bass Mixer has added BoströmMagic to both 'Euphoria' & 'Stay' for 2012.

Peter and Tooji watch as the votes came in for their Norwegian landslide

Peter Boström together with Thomas G:Son not only have penned Loreen's 'Euphoria' for Sweden in Baku - Peter has wrote 'Stay' the winning song for Norway at Norsk Melodi Grand Prix. Stay and Euphoria both showed a record breaking amount of public votes in Norway Tooji scored well over 155,000 votes meanwhile in Sweden Loreen's televote was larger than the record held by Sweden's Carola back in Melodifestivalen 2006.
Peter started Bassflow Productions at the age of 21 since then he has made a name for himself coming up with great Mixes of songs for the likes of Roxette E-Type Ola Svensson Martin Stenmarck Carola & Charlotte Perelli- the most famous being Martin Stenmarck's 'Sjumilakliv' & Martin's follow up '100 ar fran nu'
We also like a recent release from Roxette 'Speak to Me' that had The Bassflow Remix treatment.
Peter Bostrom debuted in Melodifestivalen 2003 with DeBuzz
and a tune 'Stop Look & Listen' a great tune that did not qualify that year. Then Peter was not seen for a long while at Melodifesivalen until 2009
to bring us Marie Serneholt's 'Disconnect Me' from the semi final 1- that year- More success songwriting credits came later in 2010 when he co-wrote 'Manboy' 'headlines for Alcarar - then last year both 'In The Club' for Danny as well as Sanne Nielsen's 'I'm In Love'

Globen- Our hearts were with Danny, As Loreen took the Melodifestivalen Prize 2012.

There is always in any competion - a firm favourite that Loreen proved she was before the Final- however before Loreen's victory you could feel the emotional supense
as the public voting was slowly unfolded. Loreen managed to get 22 points more than Danny Saucedo's 'Amazing' from the international juries. For some strange reason Bosnia Hertz gave Danny no points at all ! Loreen was sure to give Danny a big commiserations hug as soon
as her win was annouched- that was very touching yet you could see the hurt in Danny's eyes!
As Christer Bjorkman put it " To come a runner up two years running is not very funny at all- We hope Danny will find courage to comeback to the competion again" even Peter Joback who is over in London currently said on-line 'Danny is a great man- and his professionalism made Peter feel proud to be swedish tonight'
Even Sarah Dawn Finer in a recent interview told reporters - one of the main reason she took great pleasure in being one of 2012's out-standing hosts of Melodifestivalen 2012. Is because this meant she could take part in Melodifestivalen without being a contestant at all- as back in 2009 when Sarah Dawn sang 'Moving On' and finished 6th she found it emotionally just too much for her.
It is tough at the top of the Melodifestivalen tree- yet there can be only one winner and one song and Loreen has shown us great calm and the perfect new personality to represent Sweden in Baku. A quality that is equally as important -as a great Eurovision song just remember Germany's Lena in 2010.
Outside the Top 2- the results were a lot less predictable as who would believe Ulrik Munther would pull off a third placing- and Top Cats took themselves out of Second Chance round to finish in 6th place. I hope we see both of these new artists back again in Melodifestivalen their tunes are certainly growers. Molly Sanden did not quiet gain the public votes that I was expecting from the winnner of semi- final 2
and took the 5 placing.
It's all over now for Melodifestivalen 2012 (sniff) - yet at least we have one fantastic good reason to tune in to Eurovision 2012 in May. Thank you Loreen for coming back after 2011. Loreen shows that you can always find the stength to comeback after a fall. (Loreen's 'My heart is refusing Me' never qualified for last year's Globen final)

Final Globen Scoreboard-
1. Euphoria - Loreen - 268 points
2. Amazing - Danny Saucedo - 198 points
3. Soldiers - Ulrik Munther - 88 points
4. Shout It Out - David Lindgren - 88 points
5. Why Am I Crying? - Molly Sanden - 77 points
6. Baby Doll - Top Cats - 68 points
7. Mystery - Dead By April - 52 points
8. Jag Reser Mig Igen - Thorsten Flinck - 43 points
9. Why Start A Fire? - Lisa Miskovsky - 39 points
10.Mirakel - Bjorn Ranelid ft. Sara Li - 25 points

All smiles for Top Cats after Globen result-

MELODIFESTIVALEN 2012- Globen Grand Final is here!

It's that magical saturday when Sweden - the one country in Europe that pulls out all the stops - annually with a Song Festival of glam and glitter. After 4 semi-final heats they will hold the Grand final at Globen.
Only in 2012- did the swedes open this Melo season with a funny-interval song called 'It's for Everyone -Not a Party for gays' a theme echoed last week in Russia as a Euro- folk tune sung by Buranovskiye Babushki- won a place in Baku called 'Party for Everyone' what does this all mean? we are thinking is it back to basics?

Or is black just the new Pink-

There are almost no gimmicks or novelty act's like the Buranovskiye Grannies at Globen Stockholm this year- apart from maybe Bjorn Ranelid feat Sara Li - who speaks his way through a techo-pop tune 'Mirakel' If you want some real schlager-pop that Melodifestivalen has been so famous for at home and internationally. It is rather thin on the ground this year. In fact this year we have No Kempe Magic- at all!
The popular' writer Fredrik Kempe has not been missing from Globen Final since back in 2006! (ending his 5 year Final-run)
At least we have 'Shout it out' one schlager-stomper to get the party started
with David Lindgren- a popular dance-tune to get you on your feet waving your hands around before the 'Mystery' of a new brand of Metal-Pop from Dead by April hits you- just after Thorsten Flinck claims he will rise once again! (although we are just hoping he stays berried)

Last year it was clear the final was Eric Vs Danny - So for this year it's become -The Danny Vs Loreen Show' certainly these two tunes are
great! both worthy winners and I think Danny deserves to take the prize- but.. when it comes to making Sweden a winner in
Baku at Eurovision Song Contest 2012. I personally think Loreen's performance has just what it takes! I could be wrong- I have been before- it really comes down to those now 11 International juries, they may not vote the same as public tele-voters - as it certainly looks like
it will be Danny & Loreen on top for the public vote.

Finally lets not rule out the wonderful Molly Sanden ballad 'Why Am I crying' it could be come a case of Danny vs Loreen vs Molly.

We should have a thrilling nail-biting final voting scoreboard simular to back in 2009- We can't wait...not long to go.

-Molly in her 'Black Leather' n chains

The First United Kingdom Eurovision Entry Ever! - (that never made it)

Engelbert Humperdinck's comeback to Eurovision is creating quiet a stir- and been reported internationally -
The Hump is not the only comeback in 2012 from way back when- we had the wonderful Lys Assia, she started out with a comeback to
the Swiss National Final in January with her tune 'C'etait Ma Vie' The first winner of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 Lyn Assia-
is refered to as the Grand mother of Eurovision. Lyn's winner was 'Refain' in 1956

However would things been different if United Kingdom had been present back in Eurovision1956 ? Why was UK missing from that very first
Eurovision Song Contest- in fact Austria, Denmark & UK did not follow the rule-book back then- that stated they had to have a National TV song contest to find the Eurovision song for that year. (unlike present day)
As these three countries missed their dead-line they became disqualified, however in the UK
after the event - The BBC held the very first National Song Final called 'Festival of British Popular Song' contest in 1956- The winner was Dennis Lotis (see pic above- I want Dennis 's lounge) with a song wrote by Peter Hart & Norman Newell
"Everybody Falls in Love with someone"
so had Beeb been better organised would Eurovision History be different. Particularly if they had
choosen Matt Monro who took this tune and made it one of his well known hits of that year.

The official UK Eurovision entry came the very next year in 1957 when Patrica Bredin sung 'All' (she finished 6th at Eurovision SongContest 1957)
so this is the very first UK song that never made the deadline- check out Matt Monro's rare 1957 version here-

OMG- Look what has happened in Russia! Engelbert has a few Party gatecrashers!

The Russian National Final took place last night. The evening was filled with past contestants even Ani Lorak
sang 'Shady Lady' as well- Yet the stars of the evening and winners of a ticket to Baku are the folk band of 'Russian Grandmothers' their new tune for 2012 is called 'Party for Everyone' this song even fort off the main competion of Dima Bilan dueting with Yulia from Tatu, they finished runner up in the National final.

So for a moment -Engelbert for a whole 3 minutes in fact looked set to break the record of the oldest Eurovision contestants (as he will be 76 years old by May 2012) now with the russian grannies that record is smashed again- as they may well have a collective age of 552! by gatecrashing Engel' baby's Party !

Plus actually not a bad little russian ditti

Globen Melodifestivalen Final 2012 the Running order

- Is Peter on a songwriting winning-streak?

The Melodifestivalen Second chance round took place last night - and brought us the last two
entries for the Globen Final at Globen. The result was interesting to say the least for this extra semi-round It was played out by the normal duels format, I think it would be good for Melodifestivalen to return to the more
traditional 8 song vote for Second Chance- As each year the results seem to be un-balanced and some real worthy
finalist get knocked out, certainly Timoteij's 'Stormande Hav' should been in the final and Lasse Holm's
superb-schager classic 'Don't let me down' by Lotta Engberg & Christer Sjogren as well as Youngblood's
Fredrik Kempe tune. So Top Cats &
Thorsten Flinck do progress to take a place in the final.

Then that all important running order was desided on the night as well- Danny- gets prime position of song 8-
it will be interesting to note- If Danny's 'Amazing' wins and goes to Baku 2012. Peter Bostrom & Figge Bostrom
will be the
songwriters for both Sweden & Norway- this will be a first at Eurovision for any songwriting duo at least- I believe?

- and just who's table would Peter & Figge sit at in the Eurovision Baku- green room?
If Danny's Amazing is the winner next week.

1. David Lindgren - “Shout It Out” (Fernando Fuentes and Tony Nilsson)
4. Lisa Miskovsky - “Why Start a Fire?” (Lisa Miskovsky, Aleksander With, Bernt Rune Stray, and Berent Philip Moe)
5. Top Cats - “Baby Doll” (Mårten Eriksson, Lina Eriksson, and Susie Päivärinta-Lili & Susie)
6. Loreen - “Euphoria”
(Thomas G:son and Peter Boström)
(Ulrik Munther, Johan Aberg, Linnea Deb, Joy Deb, and David Jackson)
8. Björn Ranelid feat. Sara Li with “Mirakel” (Miracle) (Fredrik Andersson, and Björn Ranelid)
9. Molly Sandén - “Why Am I Crying?” (Molly Sandén, Aleena Gibson, and Windy Wagner)
10. Danny Saucedo - “Amazing” (Danny Saucedo, Peter Boström, and Figge Boström)
