Marlena's Moment of Victory - As she won Mf 2009 & will take Sweden to Moscow

Marlena with 'La Voix' -the song that at the end of the jury voting looked set to have a lower placing. Marlena said herself how she had packed up and was set to go home ! it was Mans 'Hope and Glory' had a clear advantage at that final stage of the final vote.

Then the public vote was added to the score board, and on this rare occasion it was the public that saved the song. The tele-vote over turned the experts and international verdict so Marlena pipped all the others to win Melodifestivalen 2009.

An excellent night of great performances and around 5 clearly winning songs which was shown in the very mixed voting at the end of a tense Final. Well done,

That is the popular audience vote during the

recent rehearsals Alcazar to win. It certainly is

set to be one of the closest Mf battles in Globen

Ever ! Even the Swedish press

& polls all show a different favourite! Nothing like

in 2007 & 2008 when we had a clear favourite.

Malene leads the Expressen Poll currently

followed by Caroline & Mans!

On the night it looks like a Marlena Alcazar & Mans

will capture the swedish public & jury. However with the new

format the International Jury is set to reveal there

results just before sweden begins voting. With a

hope this will sway the public to vote with a

Here we have the final 11 songs as they will be sung- In past years finals -Song 1 & -Song 11 ( normally Song 10 ) have best chance of winning. Certainly our schlager ambulance was on high alert over the past 5 weeks. One of the above will take the swedish Mf crown on to Moscow!

Gimme Gimme Gimme a Second Chance- as Swedish votes dropped some BIG artists from the Mf final !!

This weekend we saw Sweden's 'Andra Chansen' heading towards the final 11 songs now confirmed for Globen Finale on 14 th March 2009- This has seen some of the Mf favourite Artists and songs go forward to the final, in the past and been a great way of capturing the best of the songs that just missed out. However this year a lot of real excellent songs missed out. Two of my favourites BWO & Lili & Sussie lost out, this could be down to them both been drawn together in the same dual. If these acts came up with less than average songs, it would be a little understandable. "Show me Heaven" & "You're not alone" are both equally worthy of the final
and BWO have spoken how their act was perfectly put together for a Moscow audience.
I think the band are right on the money, if anyone else they know how to sway in the Eastern vote in ESC. They have had huge success with some of their early songs over in Russia and beyond. Lets see how the singles go in sales chart after Mf, this often shows a different story. Meanwhile as Sweden strides to be different and comeback on the Eurovision stage. They have already dropped some of the most promising songs and acts in Mf. Another one is Velvet's "The Queen" I could see this track qualifing easily in the Eurovision Semi Final. Oh well someone has to lose.
The winning songs that went through to the final were "Moving On" Sarah Dawn Finer with Caroline Af Ugglas "Snalla snalla" ( 'please please'- send me to globen!! ) these songs along with International jury choice Sofia. Out of the whole line-up for 2nd chance I personally would have picked these as the bottom 3. Lets see what happens in Globen, its still gonna be very
schlager-tastic!

Måns Zelmerlöw - 'Hope & Glory' for Globen - will he be the one?

Will STAR PILOTS take off in MF Malmo among all the Big Stars for the last Semi-Final.

Its the last Semi-final with the last eight songs for 2009, in the past the 4th Semi Final

has produced the Melodifestivalen winner. So already this is looked on as

showcasing the very best songs from Malmo on this saturday night. Certainly we have

some BIG stars with Anges (one of Sweden's Top previous idol performers)

goes almost Motown with "Love Love Love" . Malena Ernman, a world glass opera

singer goes schlager. Malena has a fantastic classic song wrote

by schlager-master Fredrik Kempe and one of his best tunes for Mf 2009 I think.

Thorleif are our veteran dansband with a large following and to sing

"Sweet Kissin in the moonlight" On the comeback trail is Sarah Dawn Finer

who I see is perhapes hoping to take the 'Empty Room' place left behind by Sanna

in 2008. But will 'Moving On' be the ballad to fill Sanna's shoes?

Among all this the newcomers Star Pilots with 'Higher' the new boys from the cockpit, they did

so well & had the most votes from the audience during Malmo's rehearsals along with

Agnes they were picked to go direct to Globen. As for my verdict, its a hard choice

with a lot of great songs and artists- My 2 favourites are Maria & Anna + Star Pilots

so I would luv for them to go into the final. With Marlena & Sarah Dawn Finer going to

2nd Chance, however I am sure Agnes with her large fan-base will get into the final 4 for sure.

So will this mean another schlager casuality in the final semi ! oh no ! As always the fate is

all written in the Stars.....

EMD look set to go all the way Direct to Globen?

Well Melodifestivalen semi final in Leksand is about to begin, the one song this week I have a great feeling about is EMD's 'Baby Goodbye'. It really is a step in a different direction for Erik Danny & Mattias. With the added Top hat & tails of their performance I think they may get the 1st one way ticket to Globen. 

For the nights other winner its a tough one to pick out. Now I luv BWOs music and I do admit that only one or two of their ballads have really impressed me, perhapes 'We could be heroes' being the exception. I am sorry cus 'You are not alone' is not up to that songs standard for me, so we may see BWO in second chance in the fantastic company of her highness Miss Velvet. 

Leaving the big swedish ballad  "Sa vill stjarnorna" from Molly Sanden, could this be the one going direct to Globen.  It certainly has been a popular tune from the rehearsal reports in Leksand, along with Velvet's 'The Queen' lets see what happens. The outcome is all written,
