King Magnus tops our Schlager PlayList with 'Pop Galaxy'

Here at SchlagerTunes HQ as spring has sprung in M E L B and we head into summer there is a real buzz here. So we have been listening almost non-stop to Magnus Carlsson's Pop Extravaganda double CD since it arrived by special delivery down-under.'Pop Galaxy' is a follow up to the last studio album another gem-way back then in 2007 -'Live Forever' Now 'Pop Galaxy' could just turn out to be The Swed-Pop Album of 2011...!
Back in 2007 was the last time Magnus stepped out on the Melodifestivalen stage. The song & album were a huge success in Sweden, although 'Live Forever' was short lived in the fact it missed out on making the Globen Final 07. We are very excited of the prospect of a return to Mf
from King Magnus in 2011. It has been rumoured and this new album proves in no uncertain terms to us, Magnus has the goods. As least 3 tracks from this album would have been ideal for Mf. Tracks like 'Take Me to your heart' or even 'Show Me The Way' is begging for a Melodifest chance.
These new Magnus tunes are wrote by the fantastic PitchLine team of Mathias Kallenberger & Andreas Berlin, these guys do a few Swed Dance Remixes and did the brand new version of Yazoo's 'Only You' by Amy Diamond ( the lead track on her new Greatest Hits CD)

Will Nanne +One More Time- make it one more time for Eurovision in 2011?

Danny of EMD, Shirley Clamp & Sanna Nielsen, Lasse Stefanz and Lili & Susie are said to be certain names to perform in Melodifestivalen 2011. According to Aftonbladet (newspaper) last weekend they say Christer Bjorkman has a half full list of Stars. Who are going to make up a larger list of top names for 2011, the normal 4 Top Star jokers will increase next year to 15

Legend Nanne Grönvall is said to be certain for a comeback with her band One More Time, they did have 2 successful entries in the 80s Then One More Time won Melodifestivalen in 1996- they came 3rd at Eurovision with 'Den Vilda' More Melodifestivalen veterans in Sanna Nielsen and Shirley Clamp who
have been missing in recent line-ups.

'Sommar'n Som Aldrig Säger Nej'

was Melodifestivalen winner of

1973 sung by Malta duo. The song was translated into english as 'You are summer'

and in Luxembourg gave Sweden a 5th place at ESC 1973. Rather wonderfully

last year Magnus Carlsson covered this classic 70's hit. A one-off single release

Charlotte Perrelli & Magnus Carlsson -together, but they are not the couple getting wed ! They are to record and release a duet Wedding song called 'Mitt livs gemal' for Royal Princess Victoria's

wedding on 19th June 2010. It is not the first time Big Schlager Stars have been selected to

perform at such a Royal Wedding celebrations. When King Carl Gustaf married Silvia on 19 th June 1976, Abba performed a future hit 'Dancing Queen' somehow I cannot see this new

release having the same inpact! but you just never know-

FLASHBACK Barbados 'Hom Hem' a recent schlager Hero- we found this classic clip

'Kom Hem' is perhapes one of the stand out tracks from dansband Barbados.
This single was a follow up to Magnus Carlsson's Melodifestivalen debut enty 'Se Mig' with the band in 2000.
Then later the CD was released with the title track 'Kom Hem' + this has been quoted as being one
of Magnus Carlsson personal favourite tracks along with 'Rosalita'
The vid is just schlager-tastic and a 80's Party revival .. Luv it from the cut-off jeans to the shinny shirts!
Its called 'Come Home'- and then in the end we find 'who' he is waiting for to return home?

Schlager-Hero's 7-Magnus Carlsson/Barbados: Living Life FOREVER !

Magnus Carlsson grew up in Fristad outside Borås and has now taken part in Mf for an amazing seven times! He rose to fame as the lead vocalist with dansband Barbados. Magnus lead the band during their most successful years from 1992 up until December 2002. Barbados performed in Melodifestivalen three times, twice coming 2nd with 'Se mig' in 2000 & 'Allt som jag ser' in 2001 Again in 2002, with their Hit 'Världen utanför' coming 4th that year
Magnus Carlsson officially became a member of Alcazar in January 2003. Joining forces with his partner at the time, Andreas Lundstedt - Alcazar had a mega Hit with 'Not a Sinner, nor a saint' in Melodifestivalen 2003 finishing 3th. The tune became
one of the most famous favourite Mf Hits with the swedes. Alcazar following this went on to great international success with 'This is the world we live in' and others. In 2005 they came back to Mf with 'Alcastar' once again finishing in 3 rd place-
it seems we could all become a Alcastar...according to the No.1- Yet that autumn the band took a break and the 4-piece never came back together again!
On February 25, 2006 Magnus participated in Melodifestival Semi-Final in Karlstad with the song 'Lev livet' (Living Life) Written by Anders Glenmark & Niklas Strömstedt and finished 8th in the Globen final. In Melodifestivalen 2007, Magnus sung "Live Forever" just missed out on going direct to Globen yet became one of his biggest +Best Hits! . Magnus has focused on his solo career and Album 'Live Forever' proved him to be a great singer in his own right.
Magnus we salute you as a real Schlager Hero in the true Schlager tradition..

MAGNUS is back 'This is Disco' new single is coming out in Sweden- this Month.

       The new single from the fantastic Magnus Carlsson is about to be released in Sweden, 

a live version of the new tune was previewed on Sweden's national day 6th June in Stockholm this month. 

The new single is available as download from 10th June 2009 & in 5 track jewel 

case CDS on 26 th June. Tracklist is;
