Its been no secret that Olivia was not a big fan of Song For Europe Winner of 1974 'Long Live Love' althrough it went on be gain 4 th place at Eurovision Song Contest 1974. Here is Olivia on The Cliff RIchard Song singing the runner up song. 'Angel Eyes' another worthy winner, I aggree it would have been a better choice at the time. Still a sounds fantastic- just the orange frilly jump suit is outa place
Just a few days ago in Stockholm. Our Schlager Diva Shirl' after her wonderful performance in Melodifestivalen 2009 singing 'Med Hjärtat Fyllt Av Ljus' We were shocked to find Shirley back at the check-out in Sweden's own Tesco's...But Thankfully she finally got back on the SVT payroll as she will be one of the Commentators for the broadcast of Eurovision Song Contest 2009.
Along with her good freind Edward af Sillen they will together bring a touch of class, humour & spontaniety to the proceedings during all three shows in Moscow- Its been one
schlager-ous journey for Shirley from her backing vocalist appearence of ESC 2001 with Antique for Greece. To the chance to cheer on Malena on all the way to the Final in Moscow 2009.
I was recently amazed to find this great short chat with Scott he is just the Master of Trance down-under..As well as being a down-to-earth cute ozzie male,
His biggest influences is Armin Van Burren- who I share great respect for as well. Thanks for interview John.
You can be forgiven for thinking this is from 1985! It is in fact a massive hit from Germany's own home-grown Bundesvision Song Contest 09. This is a regional contest , & this song & band came 2nd for Sachsen. Find out more here.
I wish ESC had more entry's like this certainly beats Alex Swings Oscar enrty, plus the video is amazing- it reminds me of The Killers Vs A-Ha, Are Polarkries 17 the eurovision songs of the future? Lets see...
Back in the 1967 or it could have been 1969 (there are conflicting reports) Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice wrote a song specially for Eurovision entitled “Try it and see”. The song was never selected for Song for Europe. It certainly sounds like a more Lulu (69) than Sandie Shaw (67) style song. When instead of shelving the euro melody he used the song with completely different lyrics. In fact it became one of the best tunes from his first Rock Musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar' the song "King Herod's Song". Here is a recent version sung by Rik Mayer - shame we cannot find the original lyrics today!! unless Lulu has a copy in her loft maybe?
I like this clip from Norway, seeing a ESC Legend Anita Skorgan who sang 'Olivier' 'Casanova' in the 70's for Norway & Alexander looks so thrilled to be in her company!
