good time to look around at what some other Artists in Europe are up to!
Nena - who were a huge band in the mid 80's
have become a German icon, I
have always been a fan of this lady's amazing vocal style. On her
own Nena has been very active lately, as well. Just last week they really came up trumps
with a New 'Nena' album release 'Made in Germany' its rather excellent! with
a modern Electro Rock sound- just check out the track
'Ich bin Hypeaktiv' on the album & lots more
The lead single is 'Wir Sind Wahr ' called We are True' in english
Although the new Album is all sung in german Nena made an excellent covers
album in 2007 'Cover Me' a double CDs One CD of just English classic rock songs like 'Friday I'm in Love'
( The Cure) 'Us & them' 'Big Yellow Taxi' & 'Fade into you'
The last time Nena Kerner recorded in English
back in 1983-4, as the first 2 Nena LP's were translated & recorded for the US & British markets.
In fact before 'Nena', she fronted a different band called 'The Strips'
who actually sung only in english.
PLUS Nena does in fact have a Eurovision/ Schlager connection
as she hosted Melodi Grand Prix for
homeland Germany in 1998. As they found a song to send to Birmingham that year.
