Eric Saade at last we have a fab Vid for 'Hotter than Fire'

Eric Saade - the one man
who cetainly made the best of his 3rd placing at Eurovision Song Contest- alot more than even the winners Ell & Nicki - who have still not managed to put together an album as a follow up on winning entry 'Running Scared' And since then Nikki has released her own single recently- will this mean the duo will be a one-off tune?

Eric Saade- has come a long way since his man-boy days of Melodifestivalen 2010. His second digital album called 'Eric Saade Vol 2'
saw a release last month- the new albums from Eric has experienced its fair share of criticism back home in Sweden strangely. The most recent 'Vol 2' offering for me seems to put those critics at bay- for sure Eric has his own style of very pure Electro-Pop- but why knock something that is proven to be popular.

If you need further proof check out the long awaited great new Video for the single

State of SAADE - Vol 1 - As Eric takes on the World

The Eurovision Contest has been a spring board for many artists over the
past 50 -odd years. However today in 2011 its become more common place, that you don't need to win this European extravaganza to find international success. Remember Baccara, Gina G, Tomas Ledin, Anna Vishy & Sakis Rouvaas from Greece they all found huge success after Eurovision. Most artists who gain a Top 5 placeing can be assured today- they are sure to gain at the least a large new fan base, and not just back at home.
Eric Saade is one such name, he came on a mission to put Sweden back in the Eurovision Top league of countries for 2011. This he achived puting Sweden in third place in Dusseldorf- just what Dr.Kempe (song writer) ordered in Melodifestivalen 11. After missing out with 'Manboy' last year- Eric Saade worked hard on making him a domestic pop sensation in Sweden- so now he has matured & moved from boy to man.
Eric is so full of talent, he is just ready to go-pop! & this he has done with the digital release of
'Eric Saade Vol 1'

Now Eric Saade has released his 2nd studio album -It's called Vol 1 -And will be followed by Vol 2 a follow up of 10 more tracks from Eric before Christmas. An idea that worked well recently for Robyn with her recent international release in 2 parts.
the lead single is 'Hearts in the Air' this is for me even better than Eric Saade's offering than Eurovision' Popular' single- It's interesting to note 'Hearts in the air' feat J-Son rapper- is also a 3 min song that suggests it may have been wrote with Melodifestivalen in mind- I am not sure
it's amazing to find out that Eric has been getting only some luke warm reviews to the album in Sweden -could this may have something to do with the very international-feel to the new tunes And certainly the 'Hearts in the Air' vid has a very American feel as well for a Eric Saade Video.
This album for me is a worthy follow up to ' Masquerade' his debut album. That I have been playing to death.. other great news is...

As a follow on from the brilliant interview with Danny 2weeks back on Melbourne's Joy Fm show Cafe Latte- will have an interview Alan Ross did with Eric Saade all bout his new album & songs- stay tuned for more info on that I will be listening that sunday for certain. In next 2 weeks (17th July)

what with Eric's new digital 2 Vol album coming out very sooon...
-now will Alan ask the guys about that Melodifest' Kiss of 2011?

The fun starts at 3pm M E L B- time & you can steam live on Joy FM

Eric Saade meets Uk's Blue in Eurovision city- Dusseldorf

Eric Saade +Blue-what a line up in Dusseldorf old town

Eric Saade finally met U K hot favorites Blue for a photo op for the swedish press- this seems to be the only time both acts have met as they are very likely to be rivals in this years final. Of course Sweden and Eric Saade has to gain a place in the final first,
and the pressure is on.
This year Sweden have gone for a performance based song
With a lot of dancing and finally the Wow factor of the breaking glass along with a
Great song that has been top of the Swedish charts for weeks. Certainly Eric is certainly no newcomer
at home in Sweden he has recently had a few chart hits and top selling debut album. All under the wing of master of svenska pop Fredrik
Kempe so he is 'Popular' already. Eric is creating alot of publicity due to last year's disapointment Sweden became a non-qualifing country in Eurovision 2010 in Oslo

However Eric has also been overwhelmed by international support for him He told Poplight site-
'I have received several awards, it's crazy. In Russia, it felt like I had awesome support, and in France, I got a standing ovation" "It's great to have all this overseas success suddenly abroad.

Eric has come a long way since last May presenting the Swedish votes last year in Oslo- when he really wanted to be there in person. Let hope he does to put Sweden back on the Eurovis' Map- Go Eric--

Alex Vorobyov (Sparrow) Vs Eric Saade- a Glass-smashing coupling!!

Over next few days Schlagertunes will pick some of the best tunes for Eurovision 2011 in Dusseldorf.. and the tune's in particular- we think will qualify for the Final.
The RedOne song has grown on me, for Russia with Alex Vorobyov's 'Get You'
It's clear -that Eric Saade will go head-to-head in the final, with Alex. There has already been press stories
of the two boy singer's ripping each other off- With the dance moves in their routines.
Then Alex did a shattering-glass special effect already at some Mtv performance in 2009-
Eric Saade has been over doing his promo duties in Russia this past week- then in any interview Alex told of no real negative feeling from him at all for his competitor- and invited Eric to party-on with him in Germany!
Hmmm...does this mean we could have another manboy-snog as we got from Danny & Eric Saade in Melodifestivalen 2010! Sweden & Russia locked in a passion-kiss! oh please...... No.

However comparing the music of the 2- 'Popular' get the 12 points for Sweden here.
Russia 8 points- but a place in the Final - check out the great vid above

Will Eric Saade bring back his Manboy shower-scene for 'Popular'?

Team Saade- over in stockholm have a task of updating the winnng song 'Popular' performance for Dusseldorf 2011. Some of Eric's dancers may need to be changed, and required to add backing vocal to the track, as also only backing vocal tracks are allowed in Eurovision. This is normal as at Eurovision, also only 6 people are allowed on stage for the performance at one time.
The other problem is that breaking glass effect may well not be able to be used for the track in Dusseldorf. In Melodifestivalen Eric performed last in his semi-final & at Globen for that reason - that any broken glass could be cleared away once all acts had performed.
It has been suggested that Eric Saade bring back his shower water effect of 'Manboy' in 2010.

I think this was alot better effect than the smashing glass, and as with Eurovision very often if you don't use a performance effect at the time..before too long someone else will! Plus Eric does that wet t-shirt look so well.

Note- it has now been confirmed Eric will use his original breaking Glass effect for Dusseldorf - hurrah

Just some -Melodifestivalen 2011 Globen Final Voting facts

This year was interesting to use the international juries- Here are the countries
and who they gave the top 12 points to-
- in fact Sanna Nielson got same amount of 12 points as Eric Saade:

Croatia: Linda Bengzing
San Marino: Swingfly
Germany: Danny Saucedo
UK: Eric Saade
Ireland: Sanna Nielsen

- So lets keep an eye on UK, France & Malta see if they give Sweden very high points in Dusseldorf 2011?

The Swedish public: votes was translated to scoreboard points this year based on the % of the votes cast. Here we see where Eric Saade got the biggest advantage

Saade & Kempe - Yeeeah!

This photo just says everything- once again Fredrik Kempe goes to Eurovision 2011 - For the 4 th year running is this a songwriters record? - this time back with homeland Sweden

Eric Saade Won Melodifestivalen 11 -as Jury & public votes both made him Top

Although Eric & Danny were always the top favourites it was never certain if the fan base of both guys and the songs would convert into scores - mainly as so much this year depended on the new international juries. The voting at the Globen final was split into 2 parts, firstly the international round-up of european juries. This gave a mixed votes , but still placed the 2 swedish faves on top with Sanna Neilson a close 3rd place. The final public voting continues after the international voting which was very good idea.
When that public vote was finally closed- these televote loaded scores were added to the scoreboard- it became anyone contest ? It was down to who got the most public votes on the night- Danny or Eric Saade- the public choose the same 'Popular' Eric Saade is the winner. He returned for the second year runnng and took the Mf prize for 2011 .

Well done Eric- final scoreboard below

BELOW- Eric's big moment of Melo'glory - and double big hugs from host Marie.

Are we ready for Globen 2011- it's Here and Now?

Its just 2 more sleeps to Globen Melodifestivalen 2011. This saturday night, it will be known - the song that will represent Sweden in dusseldorf 2011. It's all happened so fast, yet the timing of Eurovision this year means Sweden is almost the very last song - to go forward in ESC 2011 submissions. This means the artist & tune has that last song in advantage, I think this worked rather well for Ukraine last year? Although I never liked the song 'Sweet people' in particular.
So this years final- the songs I find not really as strong as last years at all If I go back to 12 months we had Timoteji, Peter Joback, Darin, Ola & Jessica Andersson besides the top 2 -Anna Bergendahl & Salen Al Fakir. In Melodifestivalen 2011 alot of the real good songs got lost in 2nd change round, perhapes 2nd Chance should be extended to 3-4 qualifing songs in the future? Christer did comment last year when asked about the songs that "You can never really tell how popular- or good a song is till 6 months afterwards -when we see how well the song charted & sold" very true words- let's see ..
The two favourites with the public is Danny & Eric Saade- so these two songs should pull in the top public votes. I think Eric will perhapes just have the edge on Danny's song and this could be just what he needs to win. Yet the new international juries will -I think like 'In the Club' alot more, these jury votes will make or break this competion this year. So anything could happen- it will be most interesting. Even The Monkier could win, I would rank him as a strong outsider this year- But is 'oh my god' a ideal song for Eurovision 2011- I have to say I am not 100% convinced
I hate to even bring this up -who can forget back in Melodifestivalen 2009. The first ever Mf International jury was used at Globen As poor Marija Serifovic took to the stage gave the first lowest score to Malena Ernman- we heard the response of boo's from the crowd. Thankfully it was only the public vote that amazingly saved Marlena Ernman that night, if the same is required in 2011- Will it work? I think the new jury system is both bold and exciting
however Sweden -please do not take away too much of your public voice.
Some will even recall a simular thing happened in Melodifestivalen 1973- was'nt it a jury voting that placed Abba's Ring Ring in 3rd place, of course it was different times way back then.
I did think that Boney M had touched or influenced Norway's entry 'Haba haba' on first hearing - that's great I luv this tune!

Will we be able to say the same for Sweden's song in 2011- I am hoping so?

-- 'ohh those swedes.'

What's in a Kiss? As Danny & Eric got locked in a Schlager Snog!

During the Globen final rehearsals - the press had a photo op not to be missed- it started with just a cheeky peck from Eric Saade on Danny's cheek. Just to show the public these rivals really did like the other- As Danny returned this with the full-on lover's snog all in fun.
This picture had manage maximum effect as putting to bed any rumours that the two favourite guys to win Melodifestivalen 2011- have nothing but love n respect for the other rival in the song contest. Okey, but they still cannot both go to dusseldorf-
Right?

Eric Saade leads the Kempe landslide in Linkoping

As Eric Saade won the third semi-final he gave songwriter guru Fredrik Kempe a massive lengthy hug- Eric's continued smile said it all. There seemed to be no doubt 'Popular' is the the new 'Manboy for Melodifestivalen 2011. Eric seems set for at the least a top 3 placing at Globen. The Playtones a big dansband in Sweden right now they sang yet another Kempe tune called 'The King' although a great choice for the Globen final.
This result saw Shirley's Angels going to second chance round (hurrrah!) along with Sara Varga on 5th March this showdown will take place.

This result meant we somehow lost some fantastic songs! Simon Forsberg with perhapes the ballad of 2011-but ever worse Sebastian's fantastic song finished in a non-qualifing 5th place, surely we will see him on the charts with 'No one else can' very sooon

- we will miss Sebs here at schlagertunes .......

Sebastian Karlsson.

Eric Saade New Look! New Song! New Globen Finalist?

Yes this is the same Manboy' from 2011. He has a brand new website - check it out
Ericsaade.com As well as looking better prepared than ever for Melodifestivalen, there is talk in Stockholem Melo Globen final could turn out to be a head-to-head between Danny vs. Eric. I must say I do like the new melodifestivalen tune 'Popular' It is nothing too different for Eric's pop sound, but does seem to be a lot better choice for Eurovision- if it does come down to these 2 guys at Globen.
Certainly Eric looks to be the first to go on to the final in Linkopping semi final..
Lets see soon.

- At rehearsal with new song 'popular'

Jenny Silver Returns with added Schager-Power

Who can forget the amazing performance of Jenny Silver last year with her excellent tune 'A Place to stay' - check out the vid.
slowly gained a place in schlagertunes Top 10 from 2010. It was very minogue-eque and that is wonderful. Jenny is confirmed with more Artists for the first 2 semi-finals - Names like Brolle, he is a massive singer in sweden. Who has been rumoured
to be doin' Melodifestivalen for the past couple of years..finally 2011 is his time. If you have not heard from him before - expect he may well have the same impact that 'Darin' had this year in the competion.
La Kidd- a NEW five-piece Perfect-Pop group who remind me of a cross between Same Difference vs. Aqua ( muchmore on them later) they will sing 'Oh my God'.

OMG indeed with -More excitement, to find out Jenny silver's tune 'Something in your eyes' is co-wrote by Thomas G:son who has certain spread schlager-magic over to Denmark's 'In a moment like this' Eurovision entry this year- as well as 'Listen to my heartbeat' by Freinds in 2001. Plus far too many more tunes to mention.

We still await more names in the second batch of Semi's songs from SVT heatquarters very soon..and if the rumour is true
Jenny will not be the only class of 2010 coming back for more- The people's wet choice Eric Saade - could be back
to try once more...?

Now that's gotta be a good thing..even bring your bollie along to Mf 2011-just in case there could be a shower!

Eric Saade is Back- and Timoteij are hot on his heals in the Swedish charts

We're coming back- did you miss us?

Here at Schlagertunes we are still buzzing from the excitement in Oslo.
Certainly Oslo produced the best Eurovision Final ever with plenty
of humour and class. During the all the glam in Oslo we did not forget Stockholm.
Just before Euroviison Final, I checked out the ToppListan Chart, only to find Mr Eric Saade had been
the one to topple the long run at No;1 of Romania's Edward Maya (4 wks)

Yes 'Manboy' is back proving to be the most popular Melodifestivalen hit of 2010.
Meanwhile those Timoteij girls are back at No:10- they were my choice for
Eurovision 2010 from Melodifestivalen. Where is Anna Bergendahl? down at No: 23.
It is amazing to see our Stars of Melodifestivalen in Sweden still hanging around- as we go
into mid summer Normally the winner is only one left by June- Look out, next Lena
is on the way topping some Euro' chartlists already..

two More Manboy's Go Direct to Globen

Last night was a full of tears and champagne in Sandviken,
after the second semi-final.
As expected Eric Saade with 'Manboy' was first off the ranks to go
into the Globen final, and
what a great performance he gave. He certainly reminde me of a
new Mans Zelmerlow, so it was ironic that Mans chatted to him
before presenting his winning reprise. Asking what is a Manboy?- or Eric should have said 'well you tell me Mans? !'
Nanne Gronwall has been quote as saying Eric is the act
to beaten so far in the Globen final, according to this schlager-diva
"he is the most dangerous, but may not win the prize !"
certainly dangerous he is with all that water and
AC/DC mix in his act. Along with Andreas Johnson's latest
"We can work it out" they both won the night, and celebrated until dawn.
There was some excellent songs, in this semi perhapes a little different.
All in all much better than semi 1, one such highlight
was 'Manipulated' very much in the vien of Lady Gaga-
I luved this tune and performance.
its just a real shame Hanna
got knocked out! while Pauline's 'Sucker for Love'
and the folk tune 'Underbart' by Kalle
Moraeus & Orsa went to 2nd Chance. So far we have an all male final -
Svt really are now Holding out for a Hero!

Nanne's reviews on Semi Final 2- are so true.
