Shirley's Angels all set to take on Melodifestivalen

Shirley Clamp - she is a schlager-diva with a difference. Way back in 2001 shirley sang in Eurovision Song Contest as a backing singer/dancer to Helena Paparizou (greek swede). This appearance lead to her Melodifestivalen debut singing 'Mr Memory' in Melodifestivalen 2003, this song did not qualify for the final. This did not stop 'Mr Memory' becoming a schlager classic followed by her Melodifestivalen anthem's

'Min karlek' & 'Att alska dig' both sung in swedish these tunes are pure schlager perfection.

They finished in 4th place in 2004 & 2005.

For Melodifestivalen 2011 Shirley has formed a new pop schlager band called Shirley's Angels they are made up of two former Schlager backing singers ( not unlike Shirl in Eurovision 2003 ) The three-some will sing 'I through it was forever' on saturday in Linkoping. The song has the incredible line-up of Alexander Bard, Booby Ljunggren & Henril Wikstrom.

...this all adds up to a Schlager historical Masterpiece & performance, for certain. 2011 really is turning into the Return to Schlager year- with Jenny Silver, Sanna Nielsen & now Shirley with her angels. - See them in action during rehearsals for the semi final

Yes, these guys are the latest artists revealed last night for Melodifestivalen class of 2011- This all happen during Dansbandskampen' finals in Svt, while Uk has X-factor keeping everyone home on saturday night- In sweden they have a talent competion in the X-factor style of the Dansbands. So each year a Dansband get selected as part of Melodifestivalen 2011, via this Tv show. These boys in fact won Dansbandskampen 2009 plus they will have the added bonus of that 'Kempe Magic'

The song is 'The King' wrote by ..

Fredrik Kempe (our schlager 'Hero' who did 'La Voix'& 'Manboy') & Peter Kvint (he has wrote "Sing for Me"(2005) "When The Night Comes Falling" & "A Little Bit Of Love" (2007), "One Love" for Carola & Andreas (2008)

More exciting news of the other artists in the last to semi finals will be revealed next week. We can hardly wait to hear who the final names for semi 3 & 4 ? according to expressen news- we could see the return of Shirley Clamp ( hurrah! last seen at Tescos in 2009) Eric Saade (the shower boi -yeeeah!) and a favourite of ours from melodiifestivalen 2006 Sebastian who sung 'when the night falls'

These names have yet to be confirmed so all subject-to-change- lets wait n' see

Shirley famously began in 2001 as a backing singer to a Greek artist/group Antique.
A duo who was lead by Helena Paparizou ( who herself won for Greece Eurovision 2006 with "Number One" )

This song is often regarded as pure Schlager of recent times see
'Min kärlek' performance in 2005.

in the singles chart & helped launch Shirl's Greatest Song collection 'För Den Som Älskar ... En Samling' this year.
This woman is a perfect performer for Mf and always manages to amaze me with her talents. For the
first time this year she was a presenter for Sweden in ESC Moscow, what will be next?
Way back in 2005 she toured with 'Rhapsody in Rock'- I saw this gem on u tube from the show - Shirl' makes
this song 'Thousand Miles' her very own, as Shirley does so often before...

Shirley Clamp goes from Tesco's check-out to Tv Commentator !

                  Just a few days ago in Stockholm. Our Schlager Diva Shirl' after her wonderful performance in Melodifestivalen 2009 singing 'Med Hjärtat Fyllt Av Ljus'  We were shocked to find Shirley back at the check-out  in Sweden's own Tesco's...But Thankfully she finally got back on the SVT payroll as she will be one of the Commentators for the broadcast of Eurovision Song Contest 2009. 

                Along with her good freind Edward af Sillen they will together bring a touch of class, humour & spontaniety to the proceedings during all three shows in Moscow- Its been one

 schlager-ous  journey for Shirley from her backing vocalist appearence of ESC 2001 with Antique for Greece. To the chance to cheer on Malena on all the way to the Final in Moscow 2009.

Shirley Clamp has'nt lost her schlager crown in the new charts.

Lovely Shirley Clamp has started the Melodifestivalen 'CHART Attack', as each year the national singles chart in Sweden are Under Attack from Melodifestivalen. Last year an early casuality Miss Velvet made No:2 with 'Deja Vu' being an early single release she really got the ball rolling....

Then by the Globen final week in 2008 we had in the following weeks single charts a total of 19 Melodifestivalen songs in the Top 30 alone! I will keep an eye on chart movers on the blog as it happens.

This week it's great to see our Shirl' has shot into Top 3 from No:25 with 'Med hjartat fyllt av ljus' The song failed to make even a 2nd chance, but we luv'd it still & swedes have shown the same opinion with sales this week. Nina Soderquist's 'Tick Tock' peaked already at No:13 last week, however no sign of Marie Serneholt yet. Its still early as some record companies delay the releases. Plus oF course any songs from the final or 2nd chance are not allowed to be promoted or released until after the final is done.
