It's not all about winning ...one year on Didrik Solli-Tangen

Its always good to reflect on previous Eurovision hopefuls, who may not win - yet can still leave a long standing impression. The hosts of Eurovision 2010- Norway, for the second year running brought us - one of the cutest guys to grace the Eurovision stage + this time one amazing opera vocalist.

Didrik Solli-Tangen sang last year's 'My Heart is yours' wrote by Fredrik Kempe who normally writes pop-stompers alone, this time Fredrik joined forces with Hanne Sorvaag ( who sang/wrote 'You're like melody' in MGP 2011 ) however on the Eurovision final night in Oslo Didrik & other Eurovision fan-favourite Iceland's Hera Bjork. Somehow both singers did not pull in the votes required, finishing in 19th & 20th place. Both gave winning performances, and have not been forgotten one year later. Didrik did show a profession response to his disapointing result, and just recently has brought out - a debut pop album called 'Guilty Pleasures' this has turned out to be one of the best follow-up Euro albums of 2010. Normally an opera performer, this was Didrik's first venture into mainstream pop- Just check out 'cold words' and 'You' plus the lead- single 'Best Kept secret' that he certainly is...thanks Norway

For me one of the most exciting parts of MGP Norway 2011-was the return of Didrik- yes, the smile is back. He even performed with Bjorn Johan Muri, who was a runner -up to Didrik in MGP 2010 with 'Yes man' (clip)

They both sung this tune mainly as it became a massive hit in Norway last year after the MGP final.

Didrik has come a long way since MGP Final in Oslo earlier this year. At that time
there was some concerns that his Norwegian accent made his song sound more like
'My HARD is yours' - and the re-actions seem to be is that a bad thing?
He even had a T-shirt to prove the point, we luv it- we want that T-Shirt and all that comes with it!

Congratulations to Didrik Solli-Tangen: A new Star of Eurovision is born

It was a Big Super Schlager weekend when three european countries picked
the song that would represent them in Eurovision Song contest 2010. Iceland, Norway
& Denmark
held there Melodi Grand Prix final,
in Oslo the pressure was higher as the winning
song does have an automatic place in the ESC 2010 Final
( seeing as Norway is the host country in 2010 )

In Norway fter 2 rounds of Jury & public votes the three favourites came out on top
Didrik Solli-Tangen, A1 ( brit boy-band) & Hard rockers -Keep of Kalessin in the
final vote. Didrik won the night with 466, 675 votes. Swedish songwriter Fredrik
Kempe wrote this song along with Hanne Sorvaag (she wrote 'Disappear' for No Angels
girl-band in ESC 2008 for Germany )

Its wonderful to see Fredrik Kempe going into his third Eurovision Final, in the past
he has won a place for homeland Sweden with 'Hero' & 'La Voix' - PLUS we
are certain this will not be the last time Kempe Magic will fill the Eurovision Stage...

Here is Didrik Solli-Tangen's power ballad for MGP Final 2010- 'My heart is Yours'

This song is by far the most anticipated performance of the Norwegian semi finals last night. As the full version

of Didrik's song and the power of his ballad for Oslo was heard in full for the first time.

It was no great surprise he made the final, and many expects say he has the Rybak factor to

bring a double win, or for sure a Top 5 place for Norway in Eurovision 2010. It certainly is a

wonderful performance.

represent Norway in 2010. He will compete in semi final 3 in Skien, Norway his song "My heart is yours" ( hmm..I am liking it already!) But wait there is even more Sir Fredik Kempe wrote

the entry with Hanne Sovaag ( she gave us Velvet Inc's 'Tricky' in MGP 2009 )

In the semi final he will be up against -Mira Craig ( she wrote 'Hold on be strong' winner in 2008 ) and boyband A1 with a self penned song 'Don't wanna lose you again'
