It was very sad news that Stephen Gately's died yesterday at 33 years old. It has shocked many fans all over the world to hear of this tragic accidental death He was always for me the best members of the 90's Boyzone irish boyband. I found a fitting and wonderful Tribute told on UK Sky news from the great Paul Gambaccini. ( clip Below ) For many Abba fans its a time to remember so fondly when Stephen Gately paid tribute to the swedes by taking on to cover 'Chiquitita' back in 1999 as part of the ABBAMANIA Tv Show- Not an very easy song to take on yet Stephen did it and won it all. With his wonder smile at the end. We will miss you.

Schlager Music..just lasts all Summer -and Year long ! Even when Melodifestivalen is done for another year in March normally. Yet being Out-of- Season so to speak. I think its a good time to look around at what some other Artists in Europe are up to!
Nena - who were a huge band in the mid 80's have become a German icon, I have always been a fan of this lady's amazing vocal style. On her own Nena has been very active lately, as well. Just last week they really came up trumps with a New 'Nena' album release 'Made in Germany' its rather excellent! with a modern Electro Rock sound- just check out the track 'Ich bin Hypeaktiv' on the album & lots more
The lead single is 'Wir Sind Wahr ' called We are True' in english Although the new Album is all sung in german Nena made an excellent covers album in 2007 'Cover Me' a double CDs One CD of just English classic rock songs like 'Friday I'm in Love' ( The Cure) 'Us & them' 'Big Yellow Taxi' & 'Fade into you' The last time Nena Kerner recorded in English back in 1983-4, as the first 2 Nena LP's were translated & recorded for the US & British markets. In fact before 'Nena', she fronted a different band called 'The Strips' who actually sung only in english.
PLUS Nena does in fact have a Eurovision/ Schlager connection as she hosted Melodi Grand Prix for homeland Germany in 1998. As they found a song to send to Birmingham that year.

Our Time Machine stopped .. not so long ago in 2007. The year that The Ark 'The Worrying Kind' won Melodifestivalen, meanwhile in that years semi final 3- We had a head-to-head battle of the recent idol boys Måns Zelmerlöw & Sebastian. They did not need to worry as both songs won a place in the Globen final. Managing to put Nanne and Sonja Alden into Second Chance round!
Måns with Cara Mia finally became the Winner of the two boys- as this is today a Melodifestivalen classic & public loved this tune and proved this with 402,133 Televotes (2nd most). Lets not forget Sebastian's 'When the Night comes Falling' I think Sebastian's performance gave The Ark a run for there money..
BWO are about to take on the U K market with the latest release from Big Science Album 'Right Her Right Now' Then with this new Mix they have a secret weapon of the Fun-Tasic singerVelvetdoing back-up. She brought us 'The Queen' from her new album and in Melodifestivalen 2009.
Yet Sweden did not pick either of these great Artists for there Melodifestivalen Final 11 at Globen !

Nanne Grönvall who brought us 'One More Time' Swedish
Pop group of the 80's and into the 90's and perhapes the Melodifestivalen Best Anthem of All- Time the entry 'Håll om Mig' This song came 2nd in 2005- and so many swedes voted for Nanne over Martin Stenmarck that year!
Yet, still the thumbing Bass and tune called 'Hold Me' ( in english) is Nanne's best loved song.. Well she has done it again with her new single 'Otacksamhet' riding high in the Swedish Single charts at No:2
